Multitrack Composition is the study of audio technology and its role in changing the art of music composition and production. This three-quarter long sequence is concerned with using modern audio technologies in the creation of best mixing practices. The use of signal processing, tape/computer-based emulations, and the structure of multitrack mixing using traditional studio workflows allow many techniques to be created on the fly to generate, modify, and document musical sound. Multitrack Composition II (winter quarter) will be taught remotely using your personal computer, Pro Tools, Digital Slate plugins, headphones, or speaker monitors.

The course is for musicians, engineers, and producers who want to develop compositional, technical, and collaborative skills using digital-based production systems. Please make sure to send a brief description of your experience to the faculty regarding your skills. If you have any questions, please contact the faculty.
