This first quarter of a year-long sequence covers the beginning of the second year of Japanese language studies. Students must be familiar with basic verb forms and elementary kanji letters. Students will build on previous skills and learn new grammar and vocabulary so they can function in a variety of situations. Class activities will include presentations and discussion on Japanese culture and life.

This is a good preparatory course for students interested in participating in Evergreen's exchange program with University of Miyazaki or University of Hyogo in Japan.

To successfully participate in this course students need to have a computer with a camera, internet access, and the required textbook/workbook. Students will spend two hours per week (one hour each on Tuesday and Thursday) in synchronous meetings using Zoom and additional two to three hours of asynchronous learning for preparation and review.
