General Chemistry II
This class is the equivalent of the second half of a year-long study of general chemistry. Topics covered include intermolecular forces, equilibrium, acids and bases, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, nuclear chemistry, and kinetics. Students are expected to be comfortable with solving for algebraic variables and exponential and logarithmic functions and should have taken the equivalent of the first half of general chemistry.
Our work will be conducted remotely, using Canvas, Zoom, and online homework. Only 8 hours per week will be in active online full-class meetings, with a general expectation that out-of-class reading, homework, at-home experiments, and recorded lectures will necessitate a full-time (40 hour a week) commitment. The faculty will offer alternative assignments if conditions or illness prevent students from accessing our synchronous meetings, which will allow students to earn comparable credit.
