This year-long course sequence in French language and cultural study emphasizes mastery of basic skills in grammatical structures focusing on oral interactive activities.  Classes use immersion learning and students are surrounded by authentic French from the start.  Class work encompasses all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.  Students will develop accurate pronunciation, build a useful vocabulary, work regularly in small groups and learn conversational skills.  Classes are lively and fast-paced with a wide variety of creative, fun activities including music, poetry, videos, role-play dialogues, native speaker interactions and web activities.  Throughout the year, students will work with native speakers to acquire skills proficiency and fluidity in their accent .

To successfully participate in this program, students will need a reliable internet connection to access course activities (synchronous and asynchronous) and content. Our work will be conducted remotely, using Canvas, Zoom, Slack and YouTube. Students will have access to alternatives to synchronous (in person or remote) participation if conditions require.
