Do you want to direct your learning as part of a team in a truly unique, innovative way? Do you want to improve your soft skills that all employers look for? Are you interested in gaining expertise in organizational management, organizational behavior, effective communication, team interaction, or just business and Changemaking? Do you want to be self employed? Are you just trying to figure out what to do with your life? Become part of the ChangeMaker Lab (CML) program and joinmillions of Changemakersin this international movement.

In this learning by doing an introductory program, students will develop the skills and insight needed to find out how to discover their passions, deliver value to others, set goals and start and conduct new ventures and understand the relationship between business and society.

Critical factors for organizational success will be explored from different perspectives and stakeholder views. Emphasis is placed on using the Partus method of learning. We will learn to develop sustainable operational models around your creative ideas using modern planning and personal mastery tools. The sustainable organizational model is based on the concept of inclusion and embracing diversity, effective communication, delivering value to clients, customers, and social enterprise beneficiaries with measurable objectives other than just the pursuit of profit. It includes consideration of the people and our planet. Students will learn how to do marketing, perform marketing research, develop websites and perform search engine optimization on their websites. To create a long term sustainable organization, we will learn how to develop leading thoughts, a common "Why," value propositions, and model strategic organizational plans. We will consider aspects of personal and financial planning essential for the small business owner or non-profit business owner to conduct effective planning. We will include consideration of small business and financial record keeping, understanding financial statements, investment diversification, homeownership, debt and time value of money, credit scores, and using other peoples money for leverage. We will consider practically the business law areas that affect small businesses, such as Agency law and liability, Partnership Law, Corporate Law, and Contract law. Starting an organization requires knowledge of organizational behavior. In this regard, we will consider and practice abridged aspects of our unique Changemaker Lab program cooperative leadership and management model based on an agile teams of teams approach and learn how to create and manage an organization where every person is included and treated with dignity and respect.

Student team entrepreneurs will work on innovative projects together and develop their skills. Students will learn valuable skills and will have the opportunity to learn how to manage their interaction with each other, teams, and teams of teams. Students will understand how an organization operates and how to manage and launch startups using cloud technologies.

We will meet an average of 4 hours a week synchronously, Thursday afternoons (see schedule online). Our approach will emphasize participation in synchronous (live) sessions. However, if students find themselves unable to participate due to technology, caregiving obligations, economic disruption, health risk, or illness, they can work with faculty to pursue alternate options to earn related credit.
