This course is designed for students who either are, or plan to be, in the position of managing their own work groups, heading up large companies, starting businesses, managing non-profits, or serving in government. It will introduce basic management concepts, tools and problem-framing methodologies such as communicating supportively, managing in a global world, motivating others, managerial ethics, decision making, and leadership. It will be taught online through the Canvas virtual learning environment, a chat room for live webinars, and e-mail. Attendance at two face-to-face meetings will be required: Tuesday, June 26 and Thursday July 26, 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Requests for alternative orientation arrangements considered case by case.
