How will you build a deeply satisfying education at Evergreen that empowers your future? How will Evergreen be a part of your lifelong learning and career goals? If you are new to Evergreen, or to college, this is an opportunity to think deeply about your education. You will consider the knowledge and skills you bring with you and those you want to explore or expand.

Cornerstone has a friendly schedule. We will meet for ten Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1:50 p.m.  Five of our classes will be on campus so that you will learn more about resources and hidden treasures at Evergreen. The others will be remote on Zoom every other Saturday.

We will consider contemporary debates about education in a democratic society.  We will engage in guided writing and research projects, self-assessments, and exercises that strengthen academic reading, writing, speaking, note-taking, and time management skills.

Our class will serve as your "cornerstone" for building your studies at Evergreen. You will have the opportunity to hear from a number of speakers who will show you literal paths to learn your way around campus, and personal paths to think about and plan what you want to accomplish here.

Students will also build an academic question in order to write an academic essay that each student will continuously work on throughout the quarter. We will work in a supportive environment to develop and sharpen research skills and writing skills that will help you to succeed in your work at Evergreen.

We will have a drop-in Academic Fair, on Zoom, on Weds. May 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. From the following link, you will find the Zoom link for this, and other classes or programs you are interested in for the fall of 2022 (as well as the summer of 2022). That link is:

Prior to or after the Academic Fair, please feel welcome to contact the faculty, Nancy Parkes, at Nancy is an Evergreen graduate with a long history at the college and who is enthusiastic about helping students to succeed in their education here, and in their lives after Evergreen.
