What makes a striking, meaningful, moving image? What separates TikTok from The French Dispatch? By the end of this course you will have the tools to identify, analyze, and create excellent moving images.

Imaging technology changes from minute to minute, but the principles of storytelling, lighting, exposure, color, composition and how human perception works remain the same.

In this course we will watch and analyze independent and commercial films from a visual perspective. We will workshop lighting and composition in the campus TV Studio and other locations both interior and exterior. We will create independent assignment work, and learn from each other in critique.

We will talk about the best uses of the equipment most of us have access to:mobile device, GoPro, and DSLR. We will also explore higher end image making equipment. The goal is for you do develop the skills to make impressive images using any technology.
