Calculus and Analytical Geometry I, II, and III is a year-long sequence of courses that will provide a rigorous treatment of the procedures, concepts, and applications of differential and integral calculus, multi-dimensional space, series, introduction to differential equations, and concepts and procedures related to partial derivatives, and double integrals. This year-long (Fall, Winter, Spring) sequence is appropriate for students who are planning to teach secondary mathematics or engage in further study in mathematics, science, or economics.
Calculus and Analytical Geometry I will be offered as a fully remote class during fall quarter and will include an in-depth study of limits, derivatives and their applications through multiple modes of inquiry and multiple (algebraic, graphical, numerical, and verbal) representations. Students should be prepared to spend a significant amount of time outside of structured learning activities studying and completing assignments. Collaborative learning is emphasized. Students will be expected to attend 4 hours of synchronous Zoom sessions a week- these sessions will be recorded. A graphing calculator, dry-erase board with markers or a pen-enabled tablet are required. You are encouraged to have a camera enabled device and access to a printer. College precalculus I and precalculus II or a year-long high school precalculus class.
Successful completion of a two-quarter precalculus sequence or a year of high school precalculus.
