This project-based class will cover the fundamentals of tiny house design and construction. Students will work together to use salvaged materials and green-building practices to build a mini-tiny-house. The class will mirror the elements, skills, and experience of a much larger build, taking students through design and permitting requirements, construction plans and the actual build. Students will learn fundamentals of structural framing and manufacture their own custom beams for both decorative and structural applications. They will learn and practice innovative reuse strategies for salvaged materials and get a full experience of building a unique, custom home (just smaller). The resulting structure will become a special-purpose space on campus.

This offering will prepare you for careers and advanced study in:

Construction, Planning, Self-sufficiency
