This upper-division science course will give students a grounding in atmospheric chemical phenomena. Topics covered include ozone and free-radical chemistry, photochemical reactions associated with smog, aerosols such as black carbon, and the molecular basis of the greenhouse effect. Prerequisite: one full year of general chemistry, including gas laws, kinetics, and equilibrium.
