May's Big Idea: Can learning social history inspire how you live your life? Evergreen faculty member Nancy Koppelman '88 will take inspiration from her spring program What Are Children For? to illustrate how learning social history can bring perspective, insight, and wisdom to the challenges of everyday life. In 2004, when her own children were young, Nancy created this program with colleague Bill Arney to see if there were ways of understanding the challenges of raising children that weren’t addressed in the “Parenting” section of the bookstore.
