P R E S S : Submissions

To apply to be a panelist for P r e s s , send your written work (see below for details) along with a brief bio, and your contact information (email, telephone, address) to

williame@evergreen.edu or by post to Professor Elizabeth Williamson:

Deadline for submissions is May 1st 2008.

Work will be judged by Evergreen faculty and writing students. Selected panelists will be notified by May 15th 2008.

All selected panelists and work read during the conference will be published in a print anthology, of which panelists will receive 1 complimentary copy along with additional copies at a reduced rate.

Those who are not selected to be panelists may still attend the conference and judges may decide to publish unselected entries in the print anthology of Press.

You do not have to register for the conference in order to submit your work.

Registration deadline, along with payment of conference fee of $25 is the day of the conference, May 24th 2008.

Specific Guidelines:

Papers: Send 1 paper/essay to williame@evergreen.edu. Papers should be 3,000-10,000
words, double spaced, and may be included in the body of your email or sent as an RTF
or WORD DOC attachment. Put “Essay Submission (Your Last Name)” in the subject
line of your email. Be sure to include your contact information and a brief bio (up to 100
words) with your submission.

Poetry: Send up 3-5 poems, your contact information, a brief bio (up to 100 words) and a
brief statement (up to 300 words) about how your work might fit into the theme of this
year’s conference. Send submissions to williame@evergreen.edu. Put “Poetry
Submission (Your Last Name)” in the subject line of your email. You may include your
submission in the body of an email or via RTF or WORD DOC attachment.

Prose: Send 1 piece of prose to williame@evergreen.edu. Prose must be 1,000-5,000
words, double spaced, and may be included in the body of your email or sent as an RTF
or WORD DOC attachment. Put “Prose Submission (Your Last Name)” in the subject
line of your email. With your submission send us a brief bio (up to 100 words) and a
brief statement (up to 300 words) about how your work might fit into the theme of this
year’s conference.

Note: If you are unsure about what category above to which your work might fit, feel
free to query us at williame@evergreen.edu. We do not hold fast to the above
distinctions, nor do we encourage doing so. We are maintaining the above simply to
expedite the process of submissions. So, please, feel free to submit work that pushes
against accepted categorical boundaries. Our main criteria for acceptance of work are
excellence and intellectual rigor.
