Evergreen is a unique college utilizing a narrative system to assess student learning and achievement. Through the evaluation process, both students and faculty learn from their work within a particular program and have the opportunity to understand more about their work as a whole and to recognize connections and common themes within a program.

This information does not act as a substitute for a visit with one of our writing tutors. It is provided as a starting point for your work. We strongly recommend scheduling an appointment with one of our writing tutors for more tailored, one-on-one conversations about your evaluations.

Self Evaluations (written when leaving program)
The self evaluation provides specific information about what you've learned throughout a particular program. Taken together, your self evaluations tell the story behind your academic life at Evergreen.

Summative Student Self Evaluations (written during your last quarter at Evergreen)
The summative student self evaluation is the very first exposure readers of your transcript have to your work here at Evergreen. This document serves both as a map to your academic work and as an important part of explaining the unifying themes within your academic career.

Student Evaluations of Faculty (written when leaving program)
The faculty evaluation provides an opportunity for you to provide substantive feedback to the faculty about their work. Faculty evaluations reflect how well and to what extent your faculty member was able to support you in your academic life and work.

Program Evaluations (optional; typically only when requested by faculty)
The program evaluation is intended as a space to provide feedback on what did and didn't work within the program itself. Often, faculty will provide a list of questions for your consideration if they request a program evaluation.

Forms for typing up formal evaluations are available here. There are no forms for program evaluations.
