Office of Veteran Affairs (OVA)

Our Office of Veterans Affairs has a permanent Veterans Coordinator and a helpful staff of 5 peer counselors who are attending school and receiving VA benefits.

Special (Non-Matriculated) Students

Those of you who have not gone through the college’s matriculation process, that is, have not applied for admission, may only receive veterans benefits for two quarters.

Student Verification Of Attendance (SVA)

If you are attending and receiving VA benefits, you will need to complete one SVA each quarter. You must submit your SVA to us no later than the end of the seventh week of each quarter.

Be sure that your e-mail address is up to date and if there is any change notify us. The SVA e-mail notification will be sent out during the fifth week and you must return it to us by the end of the seventh week.

If you have any problems returning the form, contact us at (360) 867-6254, or email Veterans Affairs before the due date.

Attention all Evergreen Students who might be re-called and/or put on temporary duty assignment due to our current global events!

If you have been called back to active duty, or if you are a civil service servant who will not be able attend college because of a temporary duty assignment, contact the Office of Veterans Affairs at (360) 867-6254 or via email so we may help you with your VA benefits and your enrollment. Please bring, fax or mail us a copy of your orders.

Post 9/11 GI Bill

In July of 2008 the Post-9/11 GI Bill was signed into law, creating a new robust education benefits program rivaling the WWII Era GI Bill of Rights. The new Post 9/11 GI Bill, which went into effect on August 1, 2009, provides education benefits for servicemembers who have served on active duty for 90 or more days since Sept. 10, 2001. These benefits are tiered based on the number of days served on active duty, creating a benefit package that gives current and previously activated National Guard and Reserve members the same benefits as active duty servicemembers.

The Evergreen State College is an active member and affiliated with The National Association of Veterans Programs Administrators (NAVPA), The Western Association of Veterans Education Specialist (WAVES) and Service Opportunity Colleges (SOC).
