I grew up in Tacoma, Washington and graduated from Henry Foss High School in 2003. While in high school I was a student in the Upward Bound program that I now have the privilege to direct. I completed my undergraduate education at Whitworth University earning my degree in political science. After undergrad I joined Teach For America and taught in Atlanta, Georgia and Avondale, Arizona. As a corp. member I taught a variety of classes and earned a master’s in secondary education from Arizona State University’s College of Teacher Education and Leadership (CTEL) program. After being away for six years I returned to Tacoma to serve students in the Upward Bound program. I served as in Educational Specialist – focusing on the academic components of the program until 2011 when I became the Director. While with Upward Bound I have had the great honor to work with some of the brightest and talented students in Tacoma Public Schools who are also some of the most vulnerable in pursuing a post- secondary education. I have also successfully secured two Upward Bound grants as the lead writer for our continuing project in Tacoma and a new project in Lakewood, Washington.

In addition to my professional and educational career, I am a mother to a four-year old daughter. We love spending time dancing, doing arts and crafts, and finding new adventures together.
