The program is designed to assist students who are first generation to college and/or low income and/or who have a disability to successfully attain their bachelor’s degrees. It provides intrusive support services for students from the day they enter the program until graduation. TRiO/KEY services include courses for academic credit, workshops, events, academic advising, study groups, financial literacy and financial aid guidance, leadership development, career development, graduate/professional school preparation and cultural enrichment programs.
TRiO Student Support Services is funded on a five year grant cycle through the U.S. Department of Education, Division of Special Services, Title IV, Higher Education Act of 1965. Evergreen has had this grant since 1979, helping eligible students pave their way towards graduation. Each year, 180 Evergreen students benefit from TRiO/KEY comprehensive support services, resulting in a high rate of degree completion.
