Evergreen Bike Shop
The Evergreen bike shop is a community ran space for people to work on their bikes, and to educate themselves about alternative transportation issues.
Over the years it's become an Evergreen tradition, a community where people seek greater connection with how they move around. The shop tries to provide an alternative to the often prohibitive nature of bike repair and culture both in financial cost and accessibility. By maintaining a free learning environment where anyone, student or not, can develop skills of bike self reliance, the shop encourages a developing ethic of environmental and social consciousness.
Also, it encourages fixing up old bikes rather then throwing them away and has informal partnerships with local groups such as Community-Build-a-Bike who gives away fixed up bicycles to low income people in the area and impoverished regions abroad. With it's large selection of donated parts and frames anyone in the community can come in a find most of what they need to build a bike for free or a small donation.
If you're interested in volunteering, come in for a training on Mondays at 3pm.
No repair experience is necessary, the most important thing is to keep the shop open. If you learn how to fix bikes in the process, that's great too.
