Updating Virex 7.x for Macintosh OS X

Virus protection is much more important with OS X than with previous Macintosh operating systems. Now that the OS is UNIX based, there are many more people out there with the skills to inflict damage to your system.

Computer security professionals are predicting a day in the very near future that viruses will appear faster than anti-virus patches can be written and deployed. Since a viruses effect can range from mildly annoying to catastrophic data loss, this is a really good reason to keep current with your virus protection software, and the virus definition updates. Fortunately Virex checks for updates every time you log in, so as soon as updates are available, they will be installed on your machine.

When the installation is complete, each time you log in Virex will check for definition updates and scan your Home directory for viruses. This can take several minutes. You will be able to continue your work while Virex scans in the background. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you DO NOT stop the scanning process, as this would defeat the entire reason for the software.

The Virex window that appears on your desktop can be minimized (hidden on your desktop and placed in your dock) by clicking the little yellow button in the upper left hand corner of the window. It is NOT RECOMMENDED that you quit the application, as it will also scan files that you access from the network and Internet.

If you have a version older that 7.2 to update all you need do is follow the installation procedure above.

As for updating you virus definitions, that is done every time you log on to your Mac. What could be easier? :^)
