Configuring LDAP
(campus email address book)

LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) is what gives your IMAP email application access the campus address book. Below you will find the setting need for the IMAP clients supported by TSS.

IMPORTANT: LDAP will not provide directory listings without entering at least 1 letter of a name or groups.

Entourage (v.X)
MacMail
Netscape 7.2 (this WILL NOT work on any version older than 7.2)


Entourage v.X

Follow this path:

-In the Menu Bar, go to Tools
-Pull down to Accountss
-Click on the Directory services tab
-Double click on your account name
-Click on the Directory tab

-If a server is listed for Evergreen, double click for settings.
-If a listing does not exist, click on the NEW button in the upper left hand corner. Name it "TESC LDAP"
-Fill in the settings under the Account Settings and Options tab as shown in the following screen shot.

-Click OK, close the accounts window.


MacMail

Follow this path:

-From a Finder Window (the blue Mac happy face icon in your dock), click on Applications
-Double click on Address Book to launch the application
-On the Menu Bar, under Address Book, pull down Preferences
-Click on LDAP tab

-If a server is listed for Evergreen, double click for settings.
-If a listing does not exist, click on the + button in the lower left hand corner. Name it "TESC LDAP"
-Fill in the settings shown in this screen shot and click SAVE.


Netscape 7.2

Follow this path:

-Launch Netscape (this WILL NOT work on any version older than 7.2)
-From the Menu Bar, under Netscape, pull down to Preferences
-Double click on "Mail and Newsgroups"
-Click on Addressing
-Click on Edit Directories

-If a server is listed for Evergreen, highlight and click EDIT for settings.
-If a listing does not exist, click on the ADD button in the upper right hand corner. Name it "TESC LDAP"
-Fill in the settings under the GENERAL tab shown in the screen shot and click SAVE.

Be sure that TESC LDAP is choosen for the Directory Server.

Click OK. One more step to go.

From the Menu Bar, click on Edit.
-Pull down to Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings
-In Compusing & Addressing, make sure that TESC LDAP is choosen there as well.

Click OK.

When you add a username to the address field in a piece of email, there may be a slight pause before any server provided names appear. However, if you have a problem, an error message will appear immediately.
