Installing VirusScan 8.6.x for Macintosh OSXBelow are instructions for downloading and installing VirusScan 8.6.x for Mac OSX. Do not be surprised if this new McAfee VirusScan software finds infected files. Most if not all of the viruses detected will be targeted at PCs and cannot affect your Mac, but should be disinfected to prevent the possibility of passing them along. At this time there are 6 known virus/malware issues for OSX. They all are cleaned and protected against by installing VirusScan 8.6.x ---------------------------- Download VirusScanForMac 8.6.1.dmg (50mb) --Double click on VirusScanForMac 8.6.1.dmg now on your desktop (or in your DOWNLOADS folder) --Double click on VirusScan.mpkg --Click on CONTINUE 4 times as it comes up. --Click on AGREE --Select Macintosh HD for installation location if not selected (If you have more than one drive please call TSS) --Click on CONTINUE --Click on INSTALL --Enter your login password to authorize the installation --The process will take up to 5 minutes depending on your system --Click on CLOSE --Restart your Mac to activate the new anti virus The first time you run VirusScan 8.6.x, the scanning process might take a very long time, as it is cataloging your files as well as checking their status. Please be patient. It is possible to cancel the cleaning process. It is highly recommended that you do not do this. Let the scanning/cleaning run its course. After the initial scan, it will run so quickly you probably won't notice it's happening. Contact TSS with any questions you might have at 6627. We recommend that you update your Mac Operating System as well. IMPORTANT: For some of you this could be a lengthy process depending on how long it has been since your machine was last updated. The updates tend to be very large in size, so DO NOT USE A DIAL-UP CONNECTION, and we recommend against using a wireless connection to perform the updates. Plug your laptop into an office connection via a data cable. Be patient and allow for the process to complete. You can work during the download process, but not during the actual update. Your Mac will likely need to be rebooted at least once during this process. --Under the APPLE in the upper left corner choose SOFTWARE UPDATE
--Repeat the Software Update until it comes back your receive the message "Your Software is Up to Date"
