This course will explore the interdisciplinary use of quantitative reasoning and statistics to analyze social and environmental problems. We will focus on increasing students understanding of quantitative research methods and procedures for data analysis. Within this context, students will demonstrate the ability to correctly calculate and interpret descriptive and inferential statistics. Student work will consist of workshops, take-home and in-class activities that will prepare students to design and complete a collaborative research project. This course meets the prerequisites for most graduate programs.

Credits awarded: 2 credits each in descriptive and inferential statistics and quantitative methods: application to the social and environmental sciences.
