Financial Aid and your Student Account
Financial Aid awards are posted to the student account and will pay current quarter charges for tuition, mandatory fees, housing, meal plans and a few other institutional charges. Financial Aid will not automatically pay other charges on the student account (i.e., Library, Media Loan, Health Services charges). If the financial aid paying into your account is greater than the charges, an excess check will be generated for you. Once an award is posted to your account it can take 24 to 48 hours for an excess check to produce and be available for pick-up at the Cashiers office.
Past due charges on your student account may keep your financial aid from being available to you. You should verify your account status on Gateway at least one week prior to the tuition deadline each quarter. If you have been awarded full-time financial aid you must be registered for 12 or more undergraduate credits or 8 graduate credits before your loans will be released into your student account (waitlisted classes are not considered).
If your financial aid is not in your account by the tuition deadline and your tuition is unpaid you may be dropped from enrollment. It is the student's responsibility to verify all requirements have been met (i.e. loan entrance counseling, signing promissory note, etc) in order for financial aid to be awarded. Please contact the Financial Aid Office to confirm your status.
