These Tuition Awards are a waiver of a student’s tuition. A recipient of a tuition award cannot receive funding in excess of the cost of full time (12–18 credits) undergraduate tuition. In addition, a recipient of a tuition award cannot use the funding for any of the study abroad consortium agreements.

AmeriCorps Service Award

Amount: $1,800

Five awarded.

Deadline: February 1, 2008

Offered to new and currently enrolled students attending full time who have completed one year of full time service with the AmeriCorps Program.

Students may receive this award for up to two academic years, but must reapply each year.

Requirements

  • Letter of application addressing your commitment to community service and how AmeriCorps and the Education Award have impacted your desire to attend college.
  • One letter of recommendation, preferably from an AmeriCorps program supervisor, supporting your application.
  • Verification of completing one year of full-time service with AmeriCorps Programs. Examples of evidence include: (a) a copy of your AmeriCorps Education Award voucher; or (b) a signed letter from a program supervisor.

Cultural Diversity Award

Note: Students from the Tacoma Campus and the Reservation-based/Tribal Program will need to follow an application process specific to their programs. Contact those program directors for more information.

Amount: Equal to undergraduate resident tuition up to 18 credits.

45 awards available.

Deadline: February 1, 2008

Offered to new and currently enrolled students attending at least half time who can demonstrate the capacity to assist the college in achieving its commitment to cultural diversity.

Students may receive this award for up to two academic years, but must reapply each year.

Requirements:

  • Letter of application explaining your achievements and why you wish to be considered for this award.
  • New students must submit transcripts from high school and each college they have previously attended. These are in addition to ones submitted for admission.
  • Current Evergreen students must submit copies of Evergreen evaluations or a letter from the program faculty specifically addressing academic achievement. The letter/s from faculty will not substitute for letters of recommendation if used to replace evaluations.
  • Three letters of recommendation written within the past year from individuals, other than relatives, who are familiar with your achievements.
  • FAFSA or Renewal Application.

K.E.Y. (Keep Enhancing Yourself) Student Services Award

Note: Only one application is required to apply for both the K.E.Y. Student Services Award and the K.E.Y. Student Services Scholarship. Recipients for both opportunities will be selected from a combined application pool.

Amount: Equal to undergraduate resident tuition up to 18 credits.

Three awarded.

Deadline: February 1, 2008

Offered to currently enrolled K.E.Y. students attending full time. Applicants need to be active participants in the K.E.Y. program. Applicants should describe their philosophy of service to others and how their life choices reflect that commitment. Preference will be given to applicants with financial need.

Requirements:

  • A one-page letter articulating your philosophy of service to others and how your life choices demonstrate your commitment to service.
  • FAFSA or Renewal Application.

Merit Award

Amount: Equal to undergraduate resident tuition up to 18 credits.

Five awarded. **Non-renewable**

Special application deadline of May 1, 2008

Offered to new students attending full-time who will graduate from high school in 2008 and who can provide evidence of being a National Merit Semi-Finalist Scholar for 2008.

Requirements

  • Letter of application addressing your preparation for college work. This should include your high school curricular and extracurricular achievements and activities. Your statement should show evidence of your ability to connect your high school experience to your future college experience.
  • Two letters of recommendation written within the past year from individuals, other than relatives, who are familiar with your achievements.
  • Transcripts from high school and each college, if attending college prior to high school graduation. These are in addition to transcripts submitted for admission.
  • Letter from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) notifying you that you are a National Merit Semi-Finalist Scholar for 2008.
