Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics Scholarship
2009-10 Academic Year

Multiple awards in varying amounts up to $10,000
Women, ethnic and racial minorities, persons with disabilities, and first generation college students – all groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the fields of computer science, mathematics, and physics - are particularly encouraged to apply for this scholarship.
Offered to new students or currently enrolled students attending full-time for the 2009-10 academic year who intend to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in computer science, mathematics, or physics and who intend to pursue a career in one of these fields. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and academic potential. The award is renewable, and is dependent upon satisfactory completion of Evergreen academic work.
Note
Recipients will be required to participate in a biweekly seminar with other recipients. Participation in the seminar should foster a sense of community, provide a support network that will develop an awareness of career opportunities and lead to continued academic success. Internship possibilities with the local high technology industry may also be possible.
Submit the following to Enrollment Services
- A letter of application with your name, address, student identification number, email address and the specific name of this scholarship.
Your letter should address the following:
- Your past academic achievements as they relate to computer science, mathematics and physics
- Extracurricular activities and important and/or diverse life experiences
- Ways in which computer science, mathematics, or physics relate to your long-term educational and career goals
- Description of how your academic plan at Evergreen will help you achieve your career goalsExtracurricular activities and important and/or diverse life experiences
- Ways in which computer science, mathematics, or physics relate to your long-term educational and career goals
- Description of how your academic plan at Evergreen will help you achieve your career goals
- Two letters of recommendation from individuals, other than relatives, who are familiar with your academic achievements. At least one of these letters should be from a recent faculty member
- Currently Enrolled Students: Submit copies of Evergreen evaluations.
- Complete the financial aid application process (FAFSA or Renewal Application) for the 2009-10 academic year.
