Mike Layton reported and commented on Washington State politics for many years, and took a personal interest in a wide range of issues affecting Washingtonians' quality of life. His skeptical eye and critical words were often the bane of politicians and bureaucrats whose vision was less populist. Offered to a currently enrolled student who will be attending full time and has completed at least three quarters at Evergreen. The scholarship will be awarded to a student whose critical thinking and communication skills combine with an interest in the public good and may lead to work in journalism, art, or teaching.
