6:30pm - 8pm
In Moon Snail reluctant swimmers aged 2 and up will be introduced to the water slowly. Instructors will use songs, games, and activities in order to ease the transition into Starfish. Swimmers will pass into Starfish once they can consistently follow directions and feel comfortable doing the activities introduced to them in Moon Snail.
In Starfish, through activities and games swimmers will be strengthening their front and back swimming skills. In order to pass into Geoduck, swimmers must be able to consistently swim 5 yards (wall to flags) on their front and back without assistance and comfortably put their face in the water.
In Geoduck swimmers will begin learning crawl stroke, backstroke, and elementary whip kick as well as beginning work on dives. In order to pass into Jellyfish swimmers must be able to consistently swim 5 yards of crawl stroke and backstroke unassisted as well as perform a knee dive properly into deep water.
In Jellyfish swimmers will be refining crawl stroke and backstroke, learning elementary backstroke and whip kick and will continue to work on proper dive technique. In order to pass to Anemone swimmers must be able to consistently swim 25 yards of crawl stroke and backstroke and 25 yards of elementary backstroke with proper technique as well as tread water for one minute in deep water.
In Anemone swimmers will be perfecting crawl stroke and backstroke, learning breaststroke, dolphin kick, and flip turns. This level is where we begin swimming more distance in learned strokes to improve endurance. In order to pass into Sea Dragon swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle with bilateral breathing, 50 yards of backstroke, 25 yards of breaststroke, tread water for 2 minutes, dolphin kick for 25 yards, and display basic open and flip turns.
In Sea Dragon swimmers will continue to refine and streamline crawl stroke, backstroke, and breaststroke. They will learn butterfly and continue working on racing turns. This level is where we push endurance as well as perfect technique. In order to pass to Megalodon swimmers must be able to swim 100 yards each of freestyle and backstroke with flip turns, 50 yards of breaststroke with open turns, 25 yards of butterfly, and tread water for 2 minutes.
In Megalodon swimmer will be gaining endurance and running sets in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Swimmers will learn block starts and will streamline strokes for racing.
Mondays and Wednesday
7pm - 8pm
Adults will learn swims, strokes, breathing, and general water movement in this adult oriented class. Adult group lessons are limited to one instructor; therefore, if an adult cannot swim one length of the pool, they must take private lessons.
*Notes About Swim Lessons*
· If one participant is registered for a class by the first day of lessons, that level will not run for the session. The participant has the option of receiving a refund, combining with another class that is running, or paying a discounted private lesson rate of $112 to continue. The number of people in a class and the final options for price will be decided at the end of the first day of a session.
· If two participants are registered for a class by the first day of lessons, that level will not run for the session. The participants have the option of receiving a refund, combining with another class that is running, or paying a semi-private lesson rate of $80 to continue. The number of people in a class and the final options for price will be decided at the end of the first day of a session.
· All classes the first day of lessons will run. After the first day, the classes with three or more participants registered will run normally, and those with two or fewer participants will be given the options listed above to continue.
Group Swim Lessons
We offer Red Cross certified youth swim lessons for children of a variety of skill levels and ages. Our program promotes safety in and around the water as well as encouraging self-confidence and instilling fundamental skills that will last a lifetime.
Private Swim Lessons
Looking for one-on-one swim instruction? We offer private lessons for a wide variety of skills and ages. Several of our instructors also have experience working with people with disabilities. Whether you've never been in the water before or are looking for stroke refinement for that upcoming triathlon, we work with you to find an instructor that matches your needs and works with your schedule. All of our instructors have had competitive swim experience as well as many years working as swim instructors using the Red Cross curriculum. Each lesson is half an hour for one-on-one instruction, or forty five minutes for semi-private instruction.
