Sustainability Tips
Help keep the GREEN in Evergreen!
- Turn off your computer when you're not using it
- Turn off your lights and unplug appliances when you are not using them
- Report all dripping faucets, running toilets, leaking pipes, flickering lights, and malfunctioning heaters to RAD Facilities immediately by calling 360-867-6764; longer you wait to report work orders like these, the more water and energy is wasted
- Purchase a reusable coffee mug and use it daily to get discounts at campus dining facilities
- Use a refillable container for water
- Take public transportation and use the Night-Line
- Turn down your heat, wear sweaters, and use blankets instead
- Be mindful of water consumption by taking shorter showers and turning off the faucet when you are brushing your teeth and shaving
- Bring your own bags when you go shopping and reuse them often
- When eating in campus dining facilities look for local and organic options
- Support the Organic Farm by purchasing fresh-grown veggies and flowers from the farm stand on Red Square on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 11 am
- Buy local whenever possible
- Purchase green cleaning supplies at the Corner Store
- Compost your food scraps and yard waste
- Purchase textbooks from the Bookstore: individual student online ordering means single-item shipping which exponentially increases deliveries to the school
- Bring old things to give away at the Free Store and take home new-to-you things to simultaneously save things from the landfill and decrease production of new stuff
