PODS Project

The PODS are an important part of Residential and Dining Services’ less unsustainable checkout process. Temporary storage containers – called PODS – are placed in the housing community and are used to collect unwanted but reusable items. These items will then be sorted and donated to organizations that serve vulnerable populations in Thurston County, including ARC of Washington and Goodwill.  

The PODS accept clothing and housewares. Please do NOT donate broken or damaged goods--doing so causes more work for the non-profit organizations that will be receiving the items! Evergreen's National Residence Hall Honorary will be accepting non-perishable food items at the PODs.

Two PODS will be placed in front of H building and will be open during the following times:

Evaluation Week:

• Monday to Friday: 3pm to 9pm
• Saturday: 10 – 12 p.m.

Please do not donate items when the PODS are closed. If you need to donate items outside of these times, please go to the RAD Front Office on the third floor and request someone unlock the PODS for you (please note there will not always be a person available to do so).

 
History of the PODS Project
In 2006, RAD organized the first less unsustainable checkout system. In its first year, 7,680 cubic feet of useable donations, 18 one-hundred gallon bags of useable clothing, and 30 larger items (i.e. couches, tables, and mattresses) were collected during the campaign. The PODS have continued to be a success at Evergreen since.
