Since forming in 2012, the Washington Consortium for the Liberal Arts (WaCLA), has undertaken several projects including an employer-educator forum, co-sponsored with the Association of American Colleges and Universities, that brought together academic leaders, regional employers, and legislators for purposeful discussion about the kinds of college learning experiences that prepare students for work, leadership, life, and citizenship; annual high school and undergraduate student essay contests on the value of the liberal arts; and media outreach, including several op-ed pieces that have been published throughout the state.

In 2014, WaCLA was honored to receive the Phi Beta Kappa Society’s Key of Excellence Award, which recognizes “innovative efforts to engage communities with the arts and sciences”.

WaCLA’s membership is currently comprised of 35 public and private colleges and universities, along with seven educational organizations and consortia, all listed below.  Please contact for membership information.
