Longhouse Events

In addition to workshops, presentations and performances hosted by the Longhouse, there are several recurring events throughout the year: the annual tribal youth art-making event, Generations Rising, the Fall Community Dinner, and December's Holiday Native Arts Fair.

10 Year Commemorative Pendleton Blanket


Longhouse Commemorative Pendleton Blanket

The blanket was designed by artist Roger Fernandes (Lower Elwha Klallam) who is a graduate of The Evergreen State College. The blanket was produced by Pendleton Woolen Mills in a limited run of 250 blankets.

The design features work that represents both the west and east side of the Cascade indigenous traditions.

Fifth Annual Middle East Film Festival Runs January 30 through February 13

The Fifth Annual Middle East Film Festival runs through February 13 and features a variety of speakers, including veterans, Iraqi and Palestinian refugees, academics and filmmakers, as well as organizers visiting from Jewish Voice for Peace, Free Gaza Campaign, and Iraq Veterans Against the War. The 14 films featured converge on the themes: Origins, Exile and Refuge.

All films are free, open to the public and will be shown at The Evergreen State College in Olympia. For screen times, guest speakers and location.

Evergreen Launches New Master of Education Program for Teachers

(Olympia, Wash.)  In a move that will improve access to advanced education for area teachers, the Washington State Higher Education Coordinating Board has approved the launch of a new Master of Education Program in Curriculum and Instruction at The Evergreen State College in Olympia.  The board made the decision at its January 25 meeting.  The program is intended for practicing teachers and will offer tracks in Mathematics and English as a Second Language (ESL).  It will begin enrolling students immediately.  Classes are scheduled to start this summer. 

Evergreen Kicks Off Artist Lecture Series January 29

(Olympia, Wash.)  The Evergreen State College is kicking off this year's Artist Lecture Series with a presentation by internationally acclaimed photographic artist Chris Jordan on Tuesday January 29, 3:45 p.m. in Lecture Hall 1 on the college campus.
