Evergreen intentionally brings diverse people together to work on challenging issues and projects and this can often lead to conflict. We have a corresponding responsibility to provide support and training for community members engaged with conflict. The concept of providing this resource originated in about 2002 and the idea has remained current and was reinforced via the Student Advocacy Center student organization, a Summer ‘05 Institute, and the 2005-06 Diversity DTF. In spring 2006 the President acknowledged the import of this concept and allocated $10,000 in FY08 to launch a resource that would provide this assistance to community members.
