Evergreen Tacoma Offers Grant Workshop

(Olympia, Wash.)The Evergreen State College, Tacoma is offering a one-day entry-level workshop on grant and proposal writing, taught by municipal leader and educator Elton Gatewood, on Friday, February 28.

“This workshop is aimed at neighborhood activists and organizers, those working with local non-profits, social service and community agencies, school districts and faith-based organizations,” said Olga Inglebritson, Evergreen Tacoma’s managing director. “It’s a great opportunity for anyone interested in the basics of grant and proposal writing to learn from someone with tremendous experience.”

The workshop will focus on the principles and rules for effective grant writing, and offer actual practice in putting a proposal together.

Gatewood has more than 40 years of state and municipal government experience and service, retiring from the city of Tacoma after 37 years as founder and administrator of the Neighborhood Council Program. He has also served as an adjunct professor and lecturer at Evergreen State College and the University of Washington in Tacoma, and currently works as a consultant to various cities and organizations throughout the U.S. and abroad.

The workshop, which is not for credit, will run from 10 to 2 p.m. at the Evergreen Tacoma campus, 1210 Sixth Avenue in Tacoma. Cost is $75.00, and participants will receive a certificate of completion. Registration is necessary to attend, at Evergreen Web Payment.
