There will be free concerts at Sylvester State Park every Wednesday evening from 7:00-8:00 pm through August 24. Quality performances from local, regional and national talents will play throughout the concert series. The Evergreen State College is supporting the event by providing sound production assistance through the Evergreen Electronic Media program.

The Evergreen State College has been awarded a grant of $3 million in June to support retention of students, build capacity for fundraising to support student scholarships and other critical needs, and create an endowed scholarship fund for low-income students at risk of failing to complete their degrees.

In a colorful slide presentation and lecture, astronomer and noetic scientist Russ Genet will trace humanity’s discovery of the cosmos beginning with pre-scientific cosmologies and culminating in the Big Bang Theory and the Runaway Universe. The lecture, beginning at 7 p.m., concludes with a summary of our current search for exoplanets and our quest to find life and alien civilizations among the stars.
