Here are answers to frequently asked questions regarding the email upgrade occuring prior to Fall Quarter, 2004.

I can’t get my email! What do I do?
Students - Beginning the evening of September 10th through September 16th, students will be unable to access your email until your mail has been successfully migrated to the new server. Once migrated your email will be accessible via the web at:
www.evergreen.edu/webmail
If you still cannot access your email you’ll need to call for help
Faculty and Staff -If you find that you cannot access your email during the upgrade period, first try using the new web email at:
www.evergreen.edu/webmail

I’m not getting all of my email from off campus. Where did it go?
The first place to check is your junk email folder. With this upgrade, Evergreen has implemented a SPAM filter. Although we have been careful to configure the filter to minimize the chance of false positives, there is still the chance that legitimate mail may be categorized as SPAM. Why can't I look up e-mail addresses from Outlook Express, Netscape Entourage or Mac Email?
We've been temporarily experiencing problems with access to the Evergreen global address lists (LDAP Directory) from these clients. We're working on a solution. Stay tuned for more info.
Will my email look different after the upgrade?
Unless you are a regular user of web based email (Outlook Web Access), you will see no change in how you use your email except for the appearance of a new folder called “Junk Email”. Be sure to monitor this folder periodically for messages that may have been inadvertently identified as SPAM.
Effective November 1 st, email older than 30 days will be automatically removed from your Junk E-mail folder.
What’s different and new with the new version?
There are several new features worth looking at once the upgrade has been completed including:
- SPAM Filtering
- Improved web email access
- Web accessible calendar folders, task folders, contact folders
- All public folders are web accessible and URL addressable.
- Support for Secure IMAP (coming soon)
- PDA friendly web email
- Support for shared calendars for Entourage 2004 users (coming soon)
