Financial Aid for MPA Students

Financial Aid

The vast majority of students admitted to the MPA program are eligible for some form of financial aid. Financial Aid resources include: federal student loans, scholarships, tuition waivers and work study.

The Evergreen Financial Aid Office determines eligibility for, and administers, the federal student loan program. The MPA program provides additional financial assistance, such as tuition waivers, scholarships, fellowships and work-study. Together, we are committed to making every effort to award aid to as many students as possible.

For 2011-12, federal financial student loan aid is still available. To be eligible, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. Follow the instructions listed under "The Financial Aid Process for Graduate Students" on the Graduate Student Financial Aid page of the college's Office of Financial Aid website.

FYI for the FAFSA our school code number is 008155: enter this number on the FAFSA to indicate your willingness to make the information available to Evergreen (the information will be sent to the Evergreen Financial Aid Office electronically.)

For 2012-13:

STEP 1: Complete the 2012-13 FAFSA -- available January 1, 2012 -- at the Graduate Student Financial Aid link.

Your FAFSA data must be processed by March 1, 2012 -- Evergreen's priority FAFSA deadline -- to be guaranteed eligibility for all need-based MPA financial aid awarded via the MPA Financial Aid Application. The official deadline to complete the FAFSA and MPA financial aid form is March 1, 2012, but due to potential federal processing delays, to maximine your chances of having a fully processed, complete FAFSA by March 1st we strongly recommend that you complete your FAFSA by February 22, 2012. Follow the instructions listed under "The Financial Aid Process for Graduate Students" on the Graduate Student Financial Aid page of the college's Office of Financial Aid website.

STEP 2: Check out your options for financial assistance from the MPA Program: MPA students seeking financial aid may be eligle for MPA sponsored tuition-waivers, scholarships, work-study and other types of aid. Download the 2012-2013 MPA Scholarships and Financial Assistance Awards Instruction Packet (PDF), which includes award descriptions and information about applying for aid from the MPA Program.

STEP 3: Submit the 2012-13 MPA Financial Assistance Awards Application Form (FAAAF) by 5 pm on March 1, 2012 to apply for MPA sponsored aid. The MPA Financial Assistance Awards Application Form (FAAAF) (PDF) plus all required materials (see 2012-2013 MPA Scholarships and Financial Assistance Awards Instruction Packet above for details) is due to MPA Office Assistant Jan Hays, by 5pm on Thursday, March 1, 2012. You can submit via email, regular mail or in-person. Notifications of awards will be sent by the end of April, 2012.

NEW! Master of Public Administration Merit Awards: All MPA students in good standing are automatically considered for an MPA Merit Award, or an MPA-Tribal Governance Merit Award. The awards seek to recognize outstanding students and applicants regardless of financial need, therefore, a FAFSA is not required. One to three awards will be distributed to applicants in both cohorts who submit an exceptional application for admission, or current students who demonstrate consistent execllence in the MPA program.
