Center for Mediation Services

Mediation is a safe, constructive way for individuals to negotiate their differences, find ways to agree, and move forward.

Evergreen's Center for Mediation Services provides a group of trained volunteers with the skills to help parties in conflict examine their individual needs, identify common interests, and begin to craft a mutually beneficial agreement.

We've Moved: The Center for Mediation Services is now located in Library 2706.

What is Mediation?

Voluntary

All parties to a mediation have to agree that they want to work out a mutually agreeable solution to their dispute.

Confidential

Clients sign agreements to mediate stating that information discussed in a mediation session will not be used outside that session.

Responsive

While the process of mediation is structured, the content and any final agreement is up to the clients. Most mediation can be scheduled with two weeks of your call.

Safe

Clients agree at the beginning of the mediation to create an environment free of physical or verbal threats. Mediators make sure that this is upheld. They are also trained to deal with power imbalances.

Effective

Signed settlement agreements are legally binding contracts.

Expands your options

If an agreement can't be reached, choosing to mediate in no way reduces or eliminates the person's ability to pursue the dispute through another channel.
