JK Optical Printer

 

Included in the Film Effects Lab of the Communications Building room 331, the JK Optical Printer is a film optical effects stand designed to create a wide variety of effects (mattes, dissolves, fades, step-printing, etc.) from 16mm or Super-8 stock. The space also includes and 35mm Moviola upright editor and rear projection 35mm viewer. The Optical Printer is accessed through participation in Animation or film programs, or through work in an independent contract. Students must pass Media Loan's Bolex camera proficiency test before testing on the optical printer. Students who have not yet taken the JK test should contact animation staff to make arrangements.
