Because of enrollment and budget concerns, we will not be starting a new cohort in the 2014-2016 biennium. If you would be interested in having Evergreen start an M.Ed. cohort in the future, please fill out this form. Thank you for your interest. Our M.Ed. program is not the same as our MiT (Master in Teaching program) If you are not yet a teacher and would like to be, we still offer our MiT program.

Master of Education: English Language Learners or Mathematics Education
We are excited to introduce to you our Master of Education in either English Language Learners (ELL, formerly ESL)* or Mathematics Education.
Our M.Ed. program was created to provide the academic courses you need to advance in your career and take on new leadership roles in the education community.
A program designed for K-16 educators
The Evergreen Master of Education Program builds upon your knowledge and commitment as a practicing educator, helping you develop professionally while you earn a master’s degree.
The 40 credit, seven quarter program offers:
- An opportunity to enhance and diversify your professional skills. In today’s economic climate, it may be helpful to take on a variety of roles at your institution and provide leadership in high need areas such as Mathematics and ELL.
- A convenient schedule. In less than two years, you can earn your degree. Courses begin in the summer when you have time to devote to your professional development, and continue evenings during the school year.
- Affordable tuition. Because Evergreen is a state college, the tuition cost of our M.Ed. program compares very favorably with other regional programs.
- Learning that connects theory to practice. You will develop and deepen your understanding of the interdependent influences of brain, culture, and language development on the academic achievement of all learners.
- Individual programs of inquiry. In the second year, through reading and critiquing relevant original research and through conducting classroom action research, you will increase your ability to identify and address the learning needs of all students, developing effective, research-based instructional strategies. You will present your findings in a research paper and public presentation.
Along with completing core coursework, you will have the opportunity to gain content knowledge and increase your teaching effectiveness in Mathematics or ELL, helping prepare you for the WEST-E test in either endorsement. Successful completion of the West E is a graduation requirement for both the Mathematics and ELL strands.
