Sheep Club

Sheep ClubOn April 6, as spring approached in Olympia and sheep were ready to shed their heavy fleeces, Evergreen Students for Sustainable Animal Agriculture turned their hands to sheep shearing with professional shearer Gerry Larsen. Students get hands-on experience raising the flock of 33 ewes and 48 lambs, which is managed by faculty member Mike Paros. They make management decisions and care for the animals, learning about breeding, marketing, shearing, nutrition, pasture management, lambing and sheep behavior.
