10 Year Commemorative Pendleton Blanket

Longhouse Commemorative Pendleton Blanket
The blanket was designed by artist Roger Fernandes (Lower Elwha Klallam) who is a graduate of The Evergreen State College. The blanket was produced by Pendleton Woolen Mills in a limited run of 250 blankets.
The design features work that represents both the west and east side of the Cascade indigenous traditions.
The tiered mountain in the center of the blanket is a basketry design that represents the Cascade Range. Under the mountain, the men and women holding hands is a Columbia Plateau design element that you often see in baskets among the Colville, Yakama, and Nez Perce.
The paddles represent Salish canoe paddles to honor the Puget Salish canoe families.
The symbol in the middle of the open hand, is the logo of the “House of Welcome” Longhouse. It symbolizes the warmth of the home fire. An outstretched hand is a recognized gesture of welcome. The Longhouse logo was designed by Chehalis artist Diane Devlin.
Translates to "House of Welcome" in the indigenous language of this region, which is called Puget Salish or Lushootseed,
