The Evergreen State College Library

~ Library FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) ~

HOURS: During the regular schedule the library is open every day of the week for a total of 84.5 hours per week. These hours are limited by budgetary constraints and have been adjusted over several years based on the statistics available from our gate counter and circulation records so that we are open during the times of most use. The most recent change was to alter our Sunday hours to stay open until 10:45 at night. Further questions concerning library hours of operation may be directed to Mindy Muzatko by email at muzatkom@evergreen.edu or at the Circulation desk or by calling (360)867-6581.

SUGGESTED PURCHASES: If you have suggestions of material which the library should purchase, you may fill out a Library Purchase Request form at the Reference Desk in the library, or you may email to Shelley Swelland in Acquisitions at swellans@evergreen.edu, or fill out this web Purchase Request form. If you choose to email your suggestion or use web form, please include as much information as possible. The following is helpful to expedite your order: title, author, publisher, date of publication, place of publication, edition, your name, address, if you would like to be notified, and the date you need the material. Faculty should also inform us if they want the material for a program, the name of the program, and if they would like it placed on reserve.

PHOTO COPIERS: There are several copiers available for your use. Paper copies are 10 cents, Microform are 10 cents per copy. We do our best to keep them clean and running. If they breakdown, we often must call for service which can take hours to days.

FOOD AND DRINK: We allow food and drink throughout our facility but we request that you take care to not cause any damage to our materials and that you clean up after yourself.

DUE DATES: Due to the nature of undergraduate research at Evergreen we check out our materials for the entire quarter. Since we have but one copy of most works, we need to share. So if you desire an item which is checked out, you may fill out a RECALL form at the Circulation Desk and we will notify the current borrower that they have two weeks to return the item for another user.

RECALLS: With our long due date some of our material must be shared. Recalls may be placed on any material currently checked out. Items recalled will be due two weeks from the date of recall and when returned the requester will be notified of its availability. If the item is not returned on time, the borrower will be fined a $5 late fee.

SUPPLIES: Due to budget considerations, we do not provide supplies for personal use. We do have scissors, a hole punch, stapler, small pencils and even tape for limited use. Other supplies, such as typing paper and white out and envelopes may be purchased at the book store.

TYPEWRITERS: There is a typing room on the 3rd floor next to the Curriculum Room. Circulation will be happy to provide ribbons and correction tape. We will report any malfunctions to the EME office for repair.

CONFERENCE ROOM: We have one room on the 3rd floor for group conferences. It may be reserved at the Circulation Desk for 2 hour blocks up to one week prior to the time reserved. Checkout requires ID.

TELEVISION ROOM & MEDIA VIEWING ROOM: We have two rooms on the 3rd floor for video viewing. They are equipped with televisions and VHS and DVD players. They may be reserved at the Circulation Desk for 2 hour blocks up to one week prior to the time reserved. Checkout requires ID.
