Giving to Evergreen

William Stevens

William Stevens graduated from Evergreen in 1974 having done mostly individual contracts. After graduation he went on to get his Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Washington, where he did his dissertation on Evergreen.

With his wife, Betty, Bill raised his family aboard their 50' iron boat, which had been built for the son of Kaiser Wilhelm. They kept it moored in Seattle for thirty years. In 1991 they moved to Port Ludlow (but they still have the boat!).

Bill is very involved in his community. He is the Great Books discussion group leader at the Beach Club in Port Ludlow, manages an investment club and is an officer of the Harry M. Stevens Family Foundation Inc., which his grandfather, Harry M. Stevens, founded in 1994.

Before coming to Evergreen, Bill worked for Navy Intelligence in Washington D.C. At one time, he was a general contractor, designing and building alternative schools for the city of Seattle.
