Janis M. Mercker

Janis M. Mercker is the parent of Michael Mercker, who attended Evergreen from 2000-2004. Since her son started attending Evergreen, Janis has been a strong supporter of the Evergreen Annual Fund. In addition to Michael, she has two daughters, a University of Washington Graduate and a Western Washington University junior.

Janis is a medical radiologist specializing in breast imaging in the Seattle area. She graduated from the Honors College at Washington State University in 1970 and went on to do her graduate work at Yale in physiology and biophysics. She studied for a while in Germany and graduated with a medical degree from University of Washington Medical School. Janis completed her fellowship training in pediatric radiology at Seattle's Children's Hospital, where she worked for about 10 years. She is still a member of the clinical faculty at the University of Washington.

Janis served on the Board of Trustees for the Seattle International Children's Festival from 1994-2000. This is a celebration of world cultures through the performing arts. Its mission is to provide multicultural experiences, education and exchange for the children and families of the Pacific Northwest. Janis currently serves as a trustee for the Washington State University Foundation, is on the advisory board for the Honors College at Washington State University and has served on the Board of Visitors for the College of Sciences. She has been on the TESC Foundation Board of Governors since 2002.
