After your file has been reviewed and your financial aid eligibilty has been determined, you will be sent an offer of aid. This offer is referred to as your Award Letter.

How Do I Accept My Financial Aid Funds?

By accessing your MyEvergreen account you can view and accept or decline most offers of aid made by the Evergreen Financial Aid Office. Exceptions are loans and some scholarships and waivers.

Guide to accepting financial aid awards online

If you have received a separate notification offering you scholarships or waivers, read it carefully and then follow the directions about how to accept those awards.

Loans

When you are offered a loan, read the additional instructions included with the award letter.

Stafford Loans
If you wish to apply for the Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, complete and return the Stafford Loan Request Form (SLRF). Remember that the offer you see on your Financial Aid account is the maximum amount that you are eligible to borrow. You are not required to borrow it all. Via the SLRF, you are letting us know which lender you want to borrow through and how much money you actually want to borrow. The Stafford process is as follows:

  1. Evergreen certifies award eligibility
  2. The student completes and e-signs a Master Promissory Note (MPN) by going to www.nela.net/Borrowers/onlola.htm or, if student is without internet capability, contacts lender to have an MPN mailed. If MPN is mailed, student returns the completed MPN to the lender.
  3. Loan funds are sent electronically by the lender to the school and funds are creditied to the student's account. New borrowers must complete the on-line entrance counseling before the SLRF will be certified. If you are unable to complete the entrance counseling on-line, contact the financial aid office and we will mail a packet to you.

PLUS Loans
If you wish to apply for the PLUS Loan, complete and return the PLUS Loan Request Form (PLRF). Remember that the offer you see on your Financial Aid account is the maximum amount that your parent(s) are eligible to borrow. You are not required to borrow it all. Via the PLRF, you are letting us know which lender you want to borrow through and how much money you actually want to borrow. The PLUS process is as follows:

  1. Evergreen certifies award eligibility
  2. The parent completes and e-signs a Master Promissory Note (MPN) by going to www.nela.net/Borrowers/onlola.htm or, if parent is without internet capability, contacts lender to have an MPN mailed. If MPN is mailed, the parent returns the completed MPN to the lender.
  3. Once the lender receives both the school certification and the Master Promissory Note, they will perform a credit check. PLUS loans are credit based and approval of the lender is not guaranteed.
  4. PLUS Loan funds will be processed electronically and the funds will be distributed by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) directly into the student's account. The funds will be applied toward any charges in the account and if there is excess, a check payable to the student will be produced.

Perkins Loans
If you are offered a Perkins Loan, please see instructions about how to accept and receive it on the Perkins Loan website .

How Do I Receive My Financial Aid Funds?

When you have verified acceptance of funds with us, and you have submitted all required forms, and you are fully registered, your aid will be deposited or electronically transferred into your student account. The amount of money you owe the college will then be subtracted from the total transferred and a refund check or bill will be generated by the Student Accounts Office.

For more information on fund disbursement dates, please contact Student Accounts.
