If you fill out a form on your computer, please remember to print it and sign it before submitting it by mail or faxing to 360-867-6576.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), also known as the Buckley Amendment, is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.

This law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

It gives students two rights concerning their education records kept by the university:

It requires the institution to keep those records private.
It provides that students have the right to inspect records about themselves that are maintained by the university.

Use the Federal Privacy Release (F.E.R.P.A) form to give named individual(s) permission to inquire about your financial aid file on your behalf. Examples of people you might grant permission to are your parents or spouse. These individuals may not make requests for changes to your financial aid eligibility and awards. Only you, the student, can make these requests.

A new FERPA release is required each year, and if you wish to withdraw permissions allowing people access to your account information, please just let us know.

Also, be aware that even if you have provided a privacy release to other offices on campus, you must provide a separate release to your Financial Aid Office if you want us to share information about your file.

Completion of this form is not required to be eligible for financial aid.
