Job Description
Provides courteous and knowledgeable assistance to users of the Computer Center and off-site users of Evergreen learning technology.. Operates the Computer Center, maintaining orderly operation and providing policy guidance. Performs general maintenance and clean-up tasks in the Center. Attendance at orientation and at weekly meetings and training sessions is required. Responsible for learning to use and troubleshoot the software available in the Computer Center.
Rate of Pay: Starts at $8.55 per hour. Promotional opportunities exist. Computer Center Consultants typically work 10-19 hours per week.

Job-related experience working with people is highly desirable. Prior familiarity with computing is highly desirable, but students with little experience are often hired on the basis of their potential.
You do not need to have work study for this position, but work study students are certainly welcome
The Hiring Process
Half the consultants for this year will be hired in late April, Remaining consultants will be hired in September. SDeadline for Spring applications is April 20. We will let you know within days if you will be interviewed. We hope to provide some training during Spring for new hires who are available. Applications for Fall Quarter will be available throughout the Summer.

Technical Consultant
Job Description
Troubleshoot Windows and Macintosh systems in the Computer Center. Perform system maintenance tasks, including hardware and software installation and configuration. Correct problems with various academic applications, utilities, and system files. Provide technical assistance to Consultants, possibly including workshops or tutoring. Perform operator duties for academic servers. Write documentation. Perform related duties as required. May be required to work flexible hours.
Skills/Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- considerable experience with computers, including Windows, *NIX, and/or Macintosh OS X operating systems.
- Ability to perform hardware maintenance, including installation, troubleshooting and component cleaning.
- Ability to identify problems with hardware and software, diagnose and take steps to resolve.
- Ability to create and modify script files for various systems (Windows batch files, *NIX shell scripts, AppleScript). * Applicants should possess a willingness to learn, be mature, responsible, able to cooperate, and have strong people and communication skills.
- Previous experience as a Computer Center Consultant is highly desirable.
The Hiring Process
Computer Center Technical Consultants are hired during Orientation Week. Applications will be available in the Computer Center starting in September. Interviews occur later in the month, and new TechCons are hired the Friday prior to Orientation week.
