- Default duplex
printing will be suspended from Tuesday, June
3 until Friday, June 13.
What Does This Mean?
Ordinarily, when you print something, it is printed
duplex (back-to-back) unless you instruct the computer
otherwise. Usually this results in saving lots of paper.
However, we have discovered that, during the last two
weeks of the quarter, this results in a waste of paper
because people get confused when printing evals and
and final papers and wind up printing multiple copies
by mistake. There were also a lot of problems with students
turning in duplex evaluations - which Registration does
not accept.
Want Duplex?
If you want duplex printing. You will need to use the
printer at the Consultants Desk (CONS_JET). You can
either switch printers at your computer or ask a consultant
for assistance.
- Computer Center
Users Surveys are underway and available in the
computer Center.
We're always trying to improve Evergreen's Computer
Center and would like to hear your suggestions. Please
help us out by taking a few minutes to fill out a survey
and let us know what you think.
- The Computer
Center's Digital Audio station has been upgraded
and is now running on a new G4 800 iMac with an
MAudio Audiophile external audio/MIDI device.
Applications include:Digital Performer 3, Peak DV plus
additional audio utilities.
This station is general access and is not scheduled.
Please be respectful of other student's need to use
this resource.

- Accounts to be Disabled
Feb. 18th accounts will be disabled for students no
longer registered with the college. The accounts will
be permenetly deleted a week later. If you have have
a need to maintain your account and find it disabled,
please submit a problem report with the consultants
in the Computer Center.
- Wireless
We now have an active wireless system in the library.
If you have your own wireless laptop or tablet computer
you are invited to come in and log on. The system
supports any wireless card using the current IEEE
802.11b standard. A single page guide on the system
is available at the Circulation Desk.
If you do not have a wireless laptop, the Circulation
Desk has 8 of them which can be checked out for
2 hours on a first come first served basis. They
can not be taken outside of the library, and no
reservations will be accepted for their use.
This is a pilot project so we hope to eventually
grow and develop the system as more resources become
available. We will be asking you for feedback about
how the system is, or isn't, working for you.
For more info check out Network Services Wireless
Page .

- Web Crossing Server Upgraded - Posting Problems
Fixed
If you'd been having problems successfully posting messages
or discussions to our WebX server you'll be happy to
hear that we have installed Web Crossing's new build
to fix these problems.
- Upgrade to Academic
Web Server -- possible individual web page broken
links
To create more space for students, faculty, and academic
programs, the academic web server is being replaced.
If you have a web page in one of the "users" or the "individuals" folders
on the current server, your site is being moved into
a folder with the first letter of your user name. (For
example, "academic.evergeen.edu/individuals/grrenim" will
move to "academic.evergreen.edu/g/greenim".). If you
used any hard coded or aboslute links in your web site
they may break. We have workshops on Sep 26 and 27 at
11am and 2pm in the Computer Center to help you. We
also have a web site to help you identify broken links.
A campus redirector for broken links has been implemented.
So if someone tries to access one of these broken link
sites, it will automatically be re-directed to the correct
site, after a notice is displayed indicating what is
happening.
- New Carpet and
Paint...Come and see our new "digs"
The carpet is in and complete and our walls are painted
new colors. The GCC looks great and the Student Consultant's
help desk has a new look. Our before and after panorama
shot shows a during construction view and our new environment.
- Academic Contract
under Construction for Fall quarter?
You can now register on the Web while finalizing your
contract - without taking up another student's spot
in a program! Help us test a new registration option.
Find the Course Registration Numbers (CRNs) on the Evergreen
GATEWAY web page under "Temporary Internship" or "Temporary
Individual Contract" All registration using these CRNs
expires by the fifth day of the quarter. You must bring
signed copies of the Contract or Internship form to
the Registration & Records Office and complete registration
in person by that time. Contact Academic Advising with
questions!
