CTR in Washington
WSDOT - Washington State Department of Transportation oversees the Commute Trip Reduction Program
Thurston Commutes - A CTR site for Thurston County maintained by the Thurston Regional Planning Council
Buses & Trains
Amtrak - Daily Pacific Northwest and national service with bike transportation options on all trains.
Greyhound - Over 20,000 daily departures to more than 3,700 locations in the 48 contiguous United States, Canada, and cooperative service to Mexico with major bus lines in those countries.
Intercity Transit - Provides public transportation services in Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, and Yelm, and express service to and from Lakewood and Tacoma with connections to service to SeaTac and Seattle on Sound Transit. Intercity Transit also provides vanpool, ridematch, and free travel training services.
Sound Transit - A mix of rail, regional bus routes and new transit facilities to urban King, Pierce and Snohomish counties.
Pierce Transit - Provides local bus routes in Pierce county, vanpool, ridematching and intercounty express service to Seattle, Sea-Tac Airport and Olympia in cooperation with Sound Transit and Intercity Transit.
Intercity Transit - Bike and Ride service is provided on all city and county routes and on I.T. Express service to Tacoma
CAP bus - The much coveted 1 dollar bus to Portland. You can be a true wizard of Northwest transit by taking the cap bus! Here's how:
- Take line 13 to Tumwater via the Olympia Transit Center. Get off in front of the Tumwater Safeway and sit on the green bench near the Intercity Transit bus shelter.
- Take the CAP bus from Tumwater to Vancouver, a paper copy of the schedule is available at the Olympia Transit Center office. It costs $1.
- Once in Vancouver you take the c-tran bus route 134 to Downtown Portland.
