Flex Time Policy
Flex Time is a policy allowing individuals some flexibility in choosing the time, but not the number, of their working hours. Flex time is defined as work hours that are an alternative to commencing at 8:00 am and ending at 5:00 pm. Core hours (hours that are not subject to flex time) are 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Employees may request flex time from the account manager at any time, but each unit will implement flex time on a quarter by quarter basis.
In determining whether to approve a flex time request, the supervisor must ensure that public service areas are adequately staffed from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and that services can be delivered efficiently.
The Evergreen flex time policy covers all exempt and classified employees who are working in a public or community access unit. Other units may develop alternative schedules with the approval of the appointing authority and the director of employee relations.
If there are more requests for flex time than can be granted, a system of drawing lots and rotation will be instituted.
